The Gallahers: Wedding Recap

Our wedding at Honey Creek Farms last weekend was just downright fun! Zack and Marlia were such a laid back couple and so easy to work with. They were seriously ever wedding planner’s dream!

The weather was perfect for their outdoor ceremony at the cabin down by the creek. They picked an acoustic guitarist to play before the ceremony and during the processional and it was the perfect choice; it added to the calmness and serenity. The guests found their seats after signing their name on a stone (great untraditional guest book) and watched the wedding party come down the hill. It couldn’t have gone any smoother!

Our bride and groom were able to sneak away for pictures just after the ceremony and we all hiked up the hill to start eating. The reception was beautiful and simple, just the way I like it. In a place that’s naturally beautiful, it doesn’t take much decor-wise, and Zack’s mom and sister kept that in mind. The burlap table runners were adorned with large lanterns (one of my new favorite decorating pieces…seriously have them all over the house), small candles and pumpkins. There were candles everywhere and really set the mood for this laid back affair; as it got darker, the barn just glowed. I also loved the cake display: burlap draped over a whiskey barrel with a huge, gold-rimmed mirror; awesome focal point when you walked in. The food and drink setupIt flowed so nicely and allowed for people to come inside, grab a drink, find a table and then get some food without all having to crowd in the doorway.

One of the highlights of the evening was the garter toss. What?! Yep, Zack and Marlia added their own little flair by using it to announce the gender of the sweet baby they’re expecting! It was a complete surprise to the guests that they would be finding out that night! I can’t wait to see how the photos turn out of everyone’s reactions.

All evening long you could hear the music from the barn and see the guests dancing away, and you could hear the laughter from the group standing around the bonfire. Zack and Marlia had such a supportive group of people who were thrilled to be celebrating with them. It was so nice to see everyone enjoying themselves and lifting this young couple up. I wish them all the best and am so thankful they chose me to be a part of their day!
