2016 in Review

Y’all, this year was crazy. Every year I think I can plan for what’s to come, but at the end of every year I sit back and think, “Wow, I didn’t expect any of that to happen.” I feel like I blinked and here we are starting a new year and our 4th wedding season as Z Studio Events!

Some highlights from 2016: I did a styled shoot…or 3 🙂 And I even got published a handful of times! Woot woot! Styled shoots are hard work and there is seriously nothing better than having someone recognize that hard work by saying, “Hey, I love what you did and want to put it on my website/blog/social media.” It was humbling and was a confirmation that I’m doing what I love and it shows in my work. I’m ready to push myself even further this year in my styling and design work.

Highlight #2: My best friends got married. I had the pleasure of standing beside 3 of my closest friends throughout the year as they married their soul mates. I will try my hardest to post recaps of ALL their weddings so you can see how stinkin gorgeous each of them were.

Highlight #3: We got busy. 2016 was definitely busier than the previous year, and 2017 is already gearing up to be busier than 2016. It is once again so very humbling. Every time a bride chooses to work with me, I do a happy dance. It’s not because I don’t trust myself or don’t think they should hire me, it’s because I’m excited I get the chance to make one more bride’s day a little less hectic. She trusts me to help her make her day so incredibly special and I don’t take that lightly.

Highlight #4: Last but definitely not the least highlight goes to all the vendors and couples I had the privilege of working with in 2016. To name a few: thank you Polly and Jay at Honey Creek Farms for another great season. We took a chance together in the spring of 2014 and look where we are now. Thank you for trusting me with your sweet couples. Colleen with Unique Settings Knoxville, you are the bomb. You are literally the most supportive person in the Knoxville wedding industry. Seriously. I don’t think you know the impact you had on me this past year. I not only admire your business, I admire you. All the photographers I had the privilege of working with on both a personal and professional level, I thank you. I couldn’t do what I do without y’all Amanda May Photos, Michelle Leah Photography, Blush Creative Photography, Britnell Photography, and Lady ‘Bach Photography. To all the other vendors (Anderson Party Rentals and All Occasion Party Rentals, The Bride Link, and so so many others in all different categories) thanks for your passion and hard work. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together in 2017!

I hope to get the chance to focus more on my social media presence and grow that aspect of my business in 2017. I also hope to devote more time to this blog!! I’m so sorry I haven’t made that a priority. I will be exploring options to make sure that happens, and I’ve also got some other exciting things up my sleeve and major projects in the beginning stages. Be on the lookout for more shoots (sorry sweet hubby of mine) and more inspiration from us in 2017!
