Charlie & Brent’s Honey Creek Farms Wedding

Charlie & Brent’s wedding was a true Southern, family affair with Christ at the center of everything they did. Charlie’s mom handled most of the decor – mismatched china and babies breath accented with light pink roses. It was light, … Continue reading

Hiring a Wedding Coordinator Can Save You Money

I’ve always been involved in event planning. I love it: watching all the details come together, working with all the vendors to achieve something, tackling problems as they arrive, and oddly enough I love cleaning up and breaking everything down … Continue reading

Don’t Be Afraid of Flowers!

Not only have I seen a big debate on DJs or do-it-yourself music playlists, but I’ve seen a surge in brides asking where to find flowers cheap, or should they just use fake. If at all possible, avoid fake flowers! They don’t photograph as well as real. So what are some other ways to cut down on costs? After a great meeting with a bride and Melissa Timm Designs, I wanted to share a few tips with you.

First, it all starts with a great florist. Find someone in your area who 1) knows her flowers and 2) is good about working with a budget. Your florist should be knowledgeable about what flowers are in season at the time of your wedding, and what flowers can be used if you’re wanting to stay in a specific color range. They’ll be able to use this info to help keep you in budget, but also achieve a final look you’ll love.

Second, start big and work your way back. In your first meeting with your florist, go over your “perfect world” scenario. Start planning without the budget, and include the most expensive flowers to achieve the look you want. See how far off you are from the budget and scale back from there.

Third, don’t be afraid to mix and match! Not all the tables have to look the same and you don’t have to use large floral centerpieces at every table. Maybe pick two looks: one floral arrangement and one non. The non-floral arrangement could be lanterns, a stack of vintage books with rose petals scattered around, or something else. This will help the budget so much!

Lantern

Lastly, REUSE! Are you lining the aisle with floral arrangements? Have your wedding coordinator move them to reception tables after the ceremony. You can also use your bridesmaid’s bouquets as centerpieces or accent pieces on the gift or cake table.

Not So Basic Linens

So often when brides think of linens, they automatically plan on white tablecloths and colored napkins or a basic table runner in navy, gray, red, etc. They think the focal point needs to be a large floral arrangement in a range of vibrant hues. I’m here to tell you, though, there is another way!

Consider trading out the basic table runner for a fun, patterned number! Minted.com has hundreds of options you can choose from. They have adorable runners for bridal and baby showers. Complete the look with a simple floral arrangement (think all white or just greenery) and coordinating napkins. If your venue provides white linens or you like the clean look of them, think about adding a fun place mat for a more casual feel.

Rose Gold Wedding Trend

One of this year’s big wedding trends has me super excited. Rose gold makes me oh so happy, especially when paired with shades of blush and pink. One of our Z Studio Brides has decided to use it as a wedding color which has me browsing around for inspiration. If you’re wondering where you can add little touches of this gorgeous hue, I’ve rounded up some of my top picks. From save-the-dates and invitations, to attire and even food, there are so many ways to add some subtle glam touches.

We shared these gorgeous invites from Minted last week. There are three different options for this real foil design and you can complete the look with RSVP and thank you cards.

Shane Hawkins Photography: Ramey Wedding

We loved being a part of Lucas and Casey’s wedding at Honey Creek Farms this past September. After a 20 minute rain delay (that I think the groomsmen prayed for so they could keep watching the football game!), we had the most beautiful ceremony, and the reception that followed was even better. Thank you so much to all our vendors and all the guests for being such great sports during the delay! Shane Hawkins Photography captured all the details, big and small, and he was so great to work with! He was prepared for the rain with clear umbrellas for the bridal party to use so he could still capture photos in case they had to walk in the rain. Thanks for sharing these photos with us Z Studio, Shane!

To me, nothing screams “Happy New Year” like a gold sequin dress. If you’re having a New Year’s wedding (or attending a snazzy party), I’ve looked around and found the perfect bridesmaid dresses from Rent the Runway. They are so affordable and stylish (they’re Badgley Mischka!), and you have options between short or long sleeve, floor-length or mini! I’m currently looking for a reason to rent one of these beauties.

First Look Sneak Peak

I just had to share a little sneak peak from our wedding at Honey Creek Farms this past weekend! I snuck this photo of the bride and groom’s first look and it still gives me chills. Meredith and Miles were such a joy to work with this year and I’m so happy for them! Looking forward to seeing (and sharing) more photos from Leverton Photography!
